I’m a PC, I’m a Mormon

December 23rd, 2008 by Richard K Miller | Filed under Cool Sites, Videos.

If you're new here, read more about the More Good Foundation. We help members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon church) share their beliefs on the Internet. Learn more about what Mormons believe or talk with Mormons at LDS.net.

Microsoft’s “I’m a PC” campaign has a site where you can immediately record or upload your story, or “reason for being a PC.” Images of each person are displayed in a “mural” which you can easily browse and watch. While I don’t care for the PC part, I like the site and concept.

If there were something like this for Mormons, would people use it? What question or starting point would evoke the most and best responses? (And the definition of “best” is open for discussion.)

I think this is an awesome idea. I lightly participate in social media… but having an opportunity to talk about why I’m a Mormon in such context would be cool to contribute. I would also think its a great opportunity to point out to friends and colleagues.

There is a lot of cool potential for something like this to be a great resource.

I could see it being mocked too… but hey, you take the good with the bad. And anything on the internet is open to be mocked… right.

This reminds me of the six billion others project ( http://www.6billionothers.org/index_en.php ). I think this would be wonderful as long as it is NOT sappy or silly, but shows how lds are influenced in their daily life by their faith. Or how they struggle too, in their faith. Kept real, it will be believable and inviting…and perhaps those who visit the site will find themselves in it through the experiences of others.

I think lds would use it. I hope diversity would be shown. There may be some LDS around the globe without computers or video recorders. I think this would be a good project for BYU TV. They go around the globe…they could easily shoot footage of people’s stories and post to the site. managers of the site should have editorial control.
